The San Bernardino Police Department’s Mounted Unit represents the very best of dedication, tradition, and community policing. Our Mounted Officers serve at major public events, patrol parks and neighborhoods, and respond during critical incidents where visibility, mobility, and crowd management are key. But what many don’t realize is this: every horse in our unit is personally owned by the officer who rides it.
These officers don’t just serve with their horses—they invest in them. All the costs associated with care, feeding, training, and equipment come directly out of the officers’ own pockets.
